Breaking Forth is a New Zealand film production company creating films that connect people with businesses, brands and the stories behind them.
We work across a wide range of film and video, covering productions of different sizes, from business legacy films to a range of other video productions.
We cover everything from documentaries and commercials to brand content, social media, live production, virtual production and internal films. Whatever the project, our focus is on making something people actually want to watch.
We’re based in New Zealand and work nationwide. Whether the story takes us down the road or across the country, we’re happy to travel. We have a core base of operations in Wellington and Waikato.
We’re a small, hands on team, which means you work directly with the people making your film. We take the time to understand the people, purpose and story behind a project, rather than simply turning up with a camera and following a brief.
We take projects from the initial idea through creative development, pre-production, filming and post production. We’ll guide you through each stage and keep things clear from the first conversation to the final film.
Absolutely. You don’t need to have the whole idea figured out before you come to us. We can help develop the concept, story, script and creative direction around what you want to achieve.
Both. We can take care of the entire production from concept to delivery, or work alongside your existing team and provide specific services such as directing, cinematography, editing or post production.
We can also slot in where needed, bringing specific team members or filling gaps within an existing production.
Our core team is flexible, but we have a wider network of trusted filmmakers and specialists we can bring in when needed. This means we can build the right crew around each production, whether it’s a small shoot or a much larger project.
It depends on the project. A smaller production might take a day, a week, a month, while a larger documentary or legacy film can take several months from the initial idea to final delivery.
We’ll establish a clear timeline with you before production begins.
Not much to start with. We mainly want to understand what you’re trying to achieve, who the film is for and what you want it to say.
From there, we can help work out the creative direction, production requirements, timeline and budget.
Every production is different, so there isn’t one set price. We build our quotes around the scale, creative requirements and outcome of each project.
If you already have a budget in mind, we can suggest a scale and show what we can offer within your budget.
Our quotes can cover everything from creative development and pre-production through to filming, editing, colour, sound, music and final delivery. We’ll clearly outline what’s included so you know exactly what you’re investing in.
Yes. If you have a particular budget in mind, let us know early and we can work with you to make the most of it.
We’d rather find a smart way to achieve the strongest possible film than try to force every project into the same production model.
Yes. We can structure a production around multiple deliverables, allowing you to get more content from a single shoot.
We can also work with businesses on an ongoing basis if you need regular video content.
We use professional cinema equipment suited to the needs of each production, with the Canon C80 as our main cinema camera. We also have professional lenses, lighting, sound and drone. For larger productions, we can acquire the right equipment for the job.
Yes. We offer professional photography alongside our film productions or as a standalone service, including brand photography, events, people, products and behind the scenes content.
We can provide your photography digitally for online use, or create physical prints and premium photography booklets designed to be kept and shared. We can also combine photography and video into the same production, making the most of the crew, locations and time on set.
Yes. We offer professional drone cinematography as part of larger productions or as a standalone service, depending on what the project needs.
Yes, we have access to one of New Zealand’s few virtual production LED volume facilities, located in Wellington, allowing us to incorporate virtual production and LED volume work into a wider production.
Virtual production can be a great solution for tricky weather, consistent lighting and creating unique locations that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to film.
Yes. We can handle the full post-production process, including editing, colour grading, sound, music, graphics, VFX and final delivery.
This means you can work with one team from the first idea right through to the finished film.
Just get in touch and tell us what you’re looking to make. You don’t need a finished concept or production plan, we can start with a conversation and work it out from there.
